VitusLab is involved in investigations of the Baltic, the North Sea/Baltic Sea transition zone and the fjords and sea around Greenland.

VitusLab participates in the Climate Research Center in Nuuk, Greenland and contributes with research on ocean circulation in Greenlandic fjords and the sea around Greenland. In particular, we investigate the influence of the melting Ice cap on fjords and coastal areas.

VitusLab participates in research- and consultancy tasks on the marine environment in the Baltic Sea with a focus on reducing hypoxia in the bottom water. PROPPEN is a colaboration between VitusLab and other Nordic partners who perform marine investigations in the Baltic. New technologies for improving the environment in the Baltic Sea are analysed. Particular in relation to improving bottom water hypoxia. The investigations includes physical and biological conditions in the whole Baltic Sea area together with local coastal studies.

VitusLab participates in the research project ECODYN concerning the marine environment in the inner Danish waters where we analyse the influence of climate change on the extension of hypoxia. We participate in a research project ECOCLIM on the exchange of greenhouse gases around Denmar and here we investigate the importance of marine processes for the CO2-exhange between the atmosphere and the sea.
